What is a QR Code

A QR code (Quick Response code) is a type of matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code). The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. These days you will seen them everywhere
i.e. in magazines, newspapers, billboards, banners and exhibition stands.

These little beauties offer information and connectivity at the click of a mobile phone camera button as long as the device has an Internet browser and a 2D code reader*. The codes are scanned in seconds; the code reader deciphers
the code and redirects the user to a website, an information page, a competition page, a YouTube video or a Google Maps store locator.

Users can receive text, add a vCard contact, open a web page, compose an e-mail or fill in a contact form after scanning QR codes. They also offer commercial tracking, entertainment and transport ticketing, product marketing and in-store product labeling.

These days your clients are mobile and their smart phones are their connection to people, products and service. A QR code attached to a once dead, passive advert etc can connect the user in seconds and turn their interest into a transaction.

So there it is. By affixing a QR code to your printed material possible clients can scan, link and engage with your brand, products and services.

* code readers are mobile phone applications that can be downloaded.
